This is a five-minute smoothie that actually keeps you full. The matcha gives it a gentle lift, the banana makes it creamy, and the whole thing comes together in one blender.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1 tsp ceremonial matcha

  • 1 ripe banana, frozen

  • 200ml oat milk (or any milk you like)

  • 1 tbsp almond butter

  • A small handful of ice

  • Optional: a drizzle of honey

Method

  1. Add everything to a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth — about 30 to 45 seconds.

  3. Taste and adjust. More banana for sweetness, more matcha for depth.

  4. Pour and drink immediately.

Why It Works

Frozen banana is the secret. It makes the texture thick and creamy without needing yogurt or protein powder. The almond butter adds fat and protein to slow down the sugar absorption from the banana, so you don't get a spike.

Matcha and banana is one of those combinations that sounds odd but works really well — the earthiness of the matcha balances the sweetness of the fruit perfectly.

Best in the morning, but honestly fine any time.
